Wilmington
Located along North Carolina's southeastern coast is the port city of Wilmington. Wilmington was first formed as a major port in the 1700's as has a strong history of Rev War and Civil War acitivity. With streets canopied with large oaks lined with historic homes, Wilmington has become a major city for movie production and the home to the largest studio outside of Hollywood. The Cape Fear runs through the city as the city boast a wonderful waterfront and river walk that host several festivals and farmers markets. Southport
Southport sits at the mouth of the Cape Fear River and offers several coastal activities such sailing and boating to nearby islands such as Bald Head island. Several restaurants line the waterfront area that offer great views of the Cape Fear River. On the Northern end of Southport is the Southport Fort Fisher Ferry that carries people across the Cape Fear to Fort Fisher State Park. Wrightsville Beach
Wrightsville Beach is located just northeast of the city of Wilmington and offers several beach houses and a few upscale hotels. The main area is the fishing pier along with the downtown district. This is a very popular NC beach as it is the closet beach to many of the Piedmont cities such as Raleigh and Greensboro. The town is famous for surfing and fishing along with day trippers. Carolina Beach
